OCL Challenge 50

Happy Friday!   Hope you are ready for a great weekend!  I am still away from home up in Morgan Hill, CA while my husband finishes his training classes.  Since it is Friday, I knew it was time for the Our Craft Lounge challenge.   This morning I went to their blog and looked to see what was expected in the challenge.  When I saw  the post I thought there would be no way for me to meet this challenge.  There just isn’t enough room in the motorhome to carry all the materials I have at home and there were a few I would need.

So you are probably thinking she could go to a Scrapbook Store or a Michaels.  There isn't any close to where we are staying.  O.K. what could I do?   I could trace a circle,  that's easy enough but, I wasn’t sure how to come up with the scallops.  After spending my time looking through my materials and the pictures I stamp out before we left home, I figured out I could meet the challenge!  So here it is.

I chose the OCL stamp: “Granny’s Secrets.  This cake is just too funny for words for those of us who are getting a little older.  I found a package of dolies in my materials so I cut part of it away to get the scallops.  The sentiment is in the the stamp set but, I didn't have the set with me so I printed out by hand.  I must say, I am very happy with the results.
Supplies:
Paper - “All Kinds of Happy” by Imaginisce
     Cardstock - Purple by Bazzil

    Copics - E13, E25, BV0000,BV00, C1, C3, B00, B01, YG41, YG45, Y17, YR07

Time to Celebrate

Another day in the motorhome.  My husband is training Probation Officers and I am crafting.  Mak and I go for walks a couple of times during the day and then I have the rest of the time until Bruce gets back to be creative.  Great Fun!!!
Today I stepped outside the box and worked on a card using Our Craft Lounge’s “Vintage Traveler”.  When I saw the Graphic 45 paper I knew the pocket watch was the stamp to use.  So, I stamped it on a tag and added the extra embellishment of the clock face, a ticket, two cancelled stamps and a button.  The tag is then mounted on black card stock and finished off with the black netting.

As you can see there is no sentiment on the card.  I want it to say Time to Celebrate but, I forgot to put some of my sentiment stamps in the motorhome so it will just have to wait until we get home.  This card can be used for either a birthday or an anniversary.
Thanks for stopping by and please leave a comment if you have the time.

OCL Challenge 49 - Clean and Simple

Whew!  A week of the flu where you couldn’t even concentrate to work on any cards and a husband who was also sick but he had a bronchial infection.  I am glad that is over!!  On Saturday we left for Northern California in our motorhome after ten hours we finally arrived in Morgan Hill.  Lucky for me there is a large storage compartment to store all my craft materials and a great place in the motorhome to work.
Sunday afternoon I finally had the opportunity to sit down and make my card for the Our Craft Lounge Challenge - Clean and Simple.  It really was fun to create a card to meet the challenge.
My card, Love is in Bloom, is done by first using a Martha Stewart heart punch to make the heart directly into the card.  The dotted red paper is Bo Bunny’s Gift of love and the heart paper is K and Company’s Sweet Talk Pattern Hearts.  A red ribbon just seemed to finish it off.  I used Our Craft Lounge, “Notes of Love” stamps to stamp the sentiment and the flowers inside the heart.  On the inside of the card a red heart surrounds the white heart that has the flowers stamped on it.  The ink used was Tim Holtz, “fired brick”

My first day out in the motorhome was great and I enjoyed having a place to finish my card.  I am truly a happy camper with both my card and our traveling!   The only problem was finding the right place to take the picture and as you can see, I did.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by.  I would love to hear from you.  If you can, please leave a comment.

OCL Challenge 48 - Supply Challenge

Well it is Friday and time for Our Craft Lounge’s Friday Challenge.  Continuing on with their new type of challenge , OCL has chosen this to be a supply week.  In other words you must have at least two different ribbons or trims on your card.  Here is the inspiration photo.

Today my inspiration really came from the beautiful, sunny day we were having in Southern California.  So I decided on doing a little yard work and after that it was time to get busy and work on my card for the challenge.  Thus my inspiration - the stamp set is from Our Craft Lounge, “Hoppin’ Into Spring”.  The little bunny falling into the watering can brought a smile to my face and memories of my Golden, Mak, right beside me digging or stealing my gardening tools.    I feel bad for all those in the snow and cold weather areas of the U.S..  If I had to be cooped up inside, without sun, I think I would loose my mind.
The card is made from a sea green, pearl finish card stock.  The paper is Graphic 45’s Once Upon a Spring, Butterfly Kisses.  Both sides of the paper were used. The embellishment on the card consist of the white pearl flourish, white organdy ribbon and a sea foam green ribbon place on top with a little butterfly stick pin in the bow.  The image is colored with Copics:  Y11, Y15, YR12, YR14, E30, E31, E33, E35,B21, B23, G12, G14, YG11, C00, C2, C3, C4, N3 and then popped up with foam dots.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set.

I am very happy with the way the card!  I hope your like it as well.  Thanks for stopping by.

Bad Dog

Yesterday, a friend sent me an email regarding dogs and the lessons we learn from them and since I have my own wonderful Golden Retriever, Makano, I decided I would work on a couple of quick dog cards.  Now Makano or Mak as we call him isn’t perfect!  In fact we should have called him -”Shredder”. When someone comes to the house to visit, family or friend, Mak has to find something to shed because he is so happy.  It could be paper or it could by my dish towels.  Believe me when I say,  I do not have one dish towel that doesn’t have a whole in it thanks to Mak! lol

This made me think - the best stamp set to use for my card is from Our Craft Lounge and is called, “Pat the Bad Dog” and yes, if it was a stamp of a Golden, they would have to call him Mak the Bad Dog.

So here are the two cards of Pat.  One is called “What’s the dirt?” and the other is about choosing your dog.

I noticed on the one, “What’s the dirt?” after I took the picture I have a little bit of bleeding on Pat, oops.! Oh well, I will have to go back and fix it. Sorry!

As for Mak, he is my boy no matter what! I will leave you with this quote, “One reason a dog can be such a comfort when you’re feeling blue is that he doesn’t try to find out why.”  Author unknown.

Happy Birthday Cupcake

Today was the usual Sunday at out house and football was the main ticket.  I love to watch football even more than my husband.  Believe it or not.  Another thing that has to be done on Sunday is check to see who has a birthday during the week.  If they are my friends and are on Facebook it is mailed to me.  Otherwise, I check my calendar and yes, there is a special friend who has a birthday this week.  So I went to  work and this is the card I came up with.  Happy Birthday Cupcake!
The stamps is an endearing little girl with a cupcake!  It is a Penny Black stamp entitled, “Sweet Thing”.  I used brown and pink card stock by Brazzil and layered a 4 x 4 piece of of Love Blooms paper by Doodlebug on top.  Next, I again used the brown and pink combination to frame the stamped image. Digging through some old cut outs I found the cup cake.  Sorry, I don’t remember the paper or the die that was used to cut it out.

Copic Markers were used to color the image.  Those colors include: RV00, RV02, BG000, BG02, BV0000, BV0, Y 11, Y31, E000, E01, E33, and E35.  I used foam tape to pop the image as well as the sentiment.  The lime green organdy ribbon and the cupcake just seem to finish it off.  I know my friend will enjoy this card!

Thanks for stopping by and please come back soon.

Our Craft Lounge Challenge #47 - Color Challenge

It is Friday and time for the first ever Color Challenge for Our Craft Lounge.  I had already finished a  card to post today when I remembered to checked out OCL’s Blog and saw the new challenge.  For me it is very exciting to have a new adventure so, I decided to join in.
The challenge stated you must use the colors red, black, and kraft, I had to stop and think.  I really didn’t know the color Kraft.  Using my handy Dashboard Dictionary I soon learned it is a "smooth brown wrapping paper".  O.K., I can do this!  Looking through my cardstock scraps I found the black and the brown.  The red heart paper is from K & Company.
Next I chose the heart from Our Craft Lounge stamp set “Notes of Love” and colored them with Copic Markers R22, R24, and R27.  A soft brown ribbon was chosen as an accent along with and heart key charm.   Shapeabilities fancy tag with the sentiment, “You are my everything” finishes off the card.  That wasn’t hard at all!!

Here is the other card I made using the same stamp.  It doesn't meet the color criteria but I wanted to post it any way.  Hope you like it!!
Thanks for stopping by.

Found Love

Welcome to my Thursday post Found Love.  Today's card is a double fold card made with black Brazzil card stock.  The outside flaps has hot pink card stock and then Doodlebug’s Sweethearts paper.  White flourishes, cut from QuicKutz Flourishes Die, were added to augment the paper and Stickles Diamond Glitter was used to match the sparkle of the hearts on the pattern paper.

The stamped image from Peddler’s Pack is called “Found Love”.  I stamped the image and then decided to enlarge it on my copier.  Copic Markers, E000, E01, R20, R22, R24, R29 , Rv00, and RV02 were used to color the image.  A soft red ribbon with bow finished off the outside of the card.
The hot pink card stock was placed on the inside of the card as well as a two inch strip of the pattern paper.  I add a Valentine poem by Joanna Fuchs and a red scalloped heart from a Martha Stuart punch to finish off the inside.

Thanks for stopping by.

"Love Graffiti

Happy Wednesday!  When I was teaching we called it hump day. It has always been one of my favorite days because it is the middle of the work week and it was down hill from there.

Searching for stamps for Valentine’s cards, I fell in love with Penny Black’s hedgehogs so, today I wanted to share one of her winsome hedgehogs: “Love Graffiti”.  He is so cute he makes me lol.

Designing this card I cut a 9 x 4.5 inch piece of Brazzil red card stock.  Making a 3 inch flap, Martha Stewart’s new heart punch was used to punch out two hearts at the bottom of the flap.  Next the two hearts were backed with the red dotted paper from Basic Grey’s Sugar Rush Collection.  White grosgrain  ribbon was run across the top of the flap.  Behind the flap is the love, love, love paper from Bo Bunny’s, A Gift of Love.

The inside of the card is another piece of red card stock cut to 8 x 3.5 inches and folded in half.  Another great piece of paper from Bo Bunny was used.  Finally, the stamped picture was mounted on red card stock and foam squares were used to pop it up.

Copic Markers, C00, C0, C2, C4, C6, R24, R29, R20, R22, E0000, E01, E51, E34, G3, G9, YR31. Y00, were used to color the stamped image.

The card is a little different than the usual cards and that is a good thing.  Thanks for taking time away from your busy schedule  to view my post.  Hope you like the card.

Love Letters

Happy first Sunday of the New Year!  Our New Year’s was very low key and I was able to find time to work on some Valentine’s projects.  This project is a stamp from one of my favorite companies, Peddler’s Pack in Oregon.  The stamp is a background stamp entitled “Love Letters”.  Roses are one of my favorite flowers and one I love to color using Copics.

Thanks to my husband we have more than thirty rose bushes in our yard, so I have roses most of the year.  Most ladies love to receive roses for Valentine’s Day making this the perfect stamp for a card.
Since the stamp is a large stamp I used a 5 x 7 card.  The two background papers are from Bo Bunny’s, “a gift of love” collection.  The black and red card stock behind the image is from my scrap basket and the ribbon came from Michaels.  I added a small heart charm to enrich the image.

Copic markers that were used included: R22, R24, R27, R29, R29, G03, G09, G29, Y11, W00, W0, W3.

I feel is is a very simple yet elegant card that anyone would love to receive for a Valentine.  Hope you enjoyed today’s project and that it brought a smile to your face!  Please come back soon.

OCLDTC 46 -Sending Love

Happy New Year  everyone and especially Our Craft Lounge!  This is the card I finished the for their Challenge 46 and I must say I really like it.  The stamp set by Our Craft Lounge is called “Sending Love”.   Black card stock by Bazzil was used for the card itself and the frame around the stamped picture.  The heart paper is from Bo Bunny’s Gift of Love Collection and the red dotted paper is from Basic Grey’s Sugar Rush Collection.

To provide and antiqued look I used Tim Holtz, Fired Brick Distressed Ink.  Martha Stuart’s Lacy Heart punch was used to coordinate with the theme. The sentiment is from the the stamp set and placed on a tag cut from a Sizzix die.

Copic markers used were comprised of:  B21, B23, Y18, YR23, C0, C2, C4, G3, G9, R22, R27.

This is and easy card to put together and I know the receiver will enjoy receiving it.  Thank you for taking the time to stop by and see my work.  I hope you like it as much as I had fun creating it.
